Leah Lance won $1,943 in the Catch the Ace draw. She chose Envelope No. 33 which revealed the Five of Hearts. As the Ace of Spades was not found, the jackpot continues to grow – this week it was at more than $45,000! You can get tickets at our Legion bar, and at our wonderful in-person locations, which include: Kwik Way in Tiverton, Sleepers Bed Gallery, Jean's Family Restaurant, and InStyle Hair Studio. A few reminders about on-line ticket sales: you need to be in Ontario, and ticket sales close at midnight on Tuesday nights. Buy them at kincardineace.com/.

At the Saturday Meat Draw, Dean Miller was our only double-dipper. Shannon Allen won a meat prize and then also went on to win the 50/50 draw, taking home $112.50. Don’t forget, we are just two weekends away from our Dec. 13 Mega Meat Draw, with music by Sweet Light Crude, and many turkeys to be won. Also, the 50/50 draw at the Mega Meat Draw gets to be a very large amount of money, so be sure to get some tickets for that draw as well.

Let’s jump into some donation news, as Branch 183 made some big donations this past week. Our chairman of of charity and youth education, Mark Ozorio attended the Special Olympics Kincardine and Area bocce practice at Kincardine District Senior School (KDSS) and presented a cheque for $5,000 to local Special Olympic athletes. Also this week, Ozorio, along with president Teri Leslie, presented another cheque of $5,000, to FRC Team 781 - the Kinetic Knights Robotics Team. We are pleased to support both of these local community groups.

In his role as youth education chairman, Ozorio was also out visiting some schools this week and presented some awards for the Legion Remembrance Day literary and poster contests. You can see some photos below, from Ecole Elgin Market Public School, St. Anthony’s School and KDSS. Huron Heights Public School also had some winners which will be given out at one of the school’s assemblies. Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to all students who took the time to create written and graphic pieces for this contest.

Support for our Food Bank Collection has been amazing! We have had to empty the box many times over already. If you haven’t heard, the Legion is collecting unique and often-overlooked items for the Kincardine Food Bank. We have a list of 10 items that are always in need, but feel free to bring other items of your choice as well. Our suggested list is as follows: feminine hygiene products, coffee/tea, diapers/pull-ups, rice, baby wipes, peanut butter, laundry soap/pods, dried pasta, dish soap, and pasta sauce (meatless). You can drop off your items in the big box in our Legion Hall lobby as you attend many of our weekly events, such as Bingo, Meat Draws, Darts, Trivia, and Jam Sessions. Thank you for your support!

The next Trivia Night is Friday, Dec. 12, and sign-up is now open. There will once again be food available. We will have wings and fries, and nachos for sale, so plan to come on out to the final trivia of 2025. Santa hats and festive apparel are encouraged!

On the menu for the Dec. 11 Bingo Night will be the popular Chicken Penne Alfredo. Remember you don’t need to be playing Bingo to come enjoy the dinner - you can just eat the good food and go home for a nap! But you will want to stay and play if you are interested in the big turkey giveaway, Dec. 11, or the $1,200 jackpot, Dec. 18!
