Kincardine Bulldogs split games with Mount Forest Patriots on the weekend
The Kincardine Bulldogs fared better on home ice as they lost to the Patriots in Mount Forest, but edged them, in overtime, at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine, in Provincial Junior Hockey Action on the weekend.

Saturday night in Mount Forest, the Bulldogs managed only one goal, in a 6-1 loss. Scoring for Kincardine, early in the opening period, was Caeleb Bowler from Jared Houghton and Cole Lewis.

Bulldogs goalie William Belitski made 19 saves on 24 shots, while his teammate, goalie Blake Beitz, made 10 saves on 10 shots.

Sunday afternoon at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine, the ‘Dogs dug a little deeper and downed the Patriots, 3-2, in overtime.

Dawson Marshall opened the scoring for Kincardine, midway through the first period, assisted by Liam Doherty and Cade Moffatt.

Mount Forest tied it up in the second, and scored a second goal, making it a 2-1 game heading into the final frame.

Bowler had the tying goal, late in the third, from Zasha Ortman and Lewis, forcing the game into overtime.

And early in the overtime period, it was Bowler scoring the winning goal, from Lewis and Houghton, to give the Bulldogs the 3-2 win.

Beitz made 30 saves on 32 shots in the Kincardine net.

The ‘Dogs are on the road the rest of the month, facing Walkerton, Dec. 12, at 7:30 p.m.; Wingham, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m.; Hanover, Dec. 17, at 8 p.m.; Mitchell, Dec. 19, at 8 p.m.; and Mitchell again, Dec. 21, at 4:30 p.m.
