Kincardine Legion Corner
Kincardine council has approved the Kincardine Legion's application for a new
commemorative Veterans Crosswalk to be installed at the west side crossing of the Lambton Street and Huron Terrace intersection in the Town of Kincardine. This crosswalk is meant to honour all veterans within our community and to remember their service and sacrifice year-round. The goal is to complete the crosswalk by July 17, which is the official 100th birthday of the Royal Canadian Legion.
The design (below) will feature two soldiers on a backdrop of white and grey stripes, with the words “Lest We Forget” in red at each end of the crosswalk.
Also, we are pleased to announce we have once again made progress and completed some more important steps toward launching our new
Kin Cares 50/50 draw and it will begin in April. Some have asked about purchasing tickets and rest assured, we will announce the moment that things go live. We are so happy that the community is getting excited to participate in this new joint draw with the Kincardine Legion and the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation. If you are not following Kin Cares 50/50 on social media, check it out! We have posted some information videos that really help explain the partnership.
At the
Saturday Meat Draw, we had eight distinct winners, with no double-dippers. Cheryl Anderson won the 50/50 draw and took home $131.50, just 50 cents short of last week's prize amount.
Thanks to everyone who purchased tickets for this
Saturday’s St. Paddy’s Day Dinner and Dance at the Legion. Just to let everyone know, no tickets will be sold at the door for this event. I have my tickets and will try to do some live video once "Left Turn Clyde" takes the stage, so if you can't make it, check out our Facebook page for a glimpse of the music.
After this weekend, the next big ticketed event we are having is
The Mudmen, Saturday, April 25. Tickets for this event are already on sale at the Legion Bar, and are $35 each.
For those of you coming out to
Thursday Night Bingo, here are the menus for the next few weeks: today, March 12, is Mama Zetti pasta, March 19 is chili, and March 26 will be turkey pot pie. We haven’t started a countdown to Burgers at Bingo just yet, but this bit of snow-melting weather means we are heading in the right direction.
Congratulations to Janna and Everlie for both placing first at the
zone public speaking contest in Seaforth this past weekend. You might remember they were our first-place winners at our branch competition, and now they both move on to the district finals, Everlie in the Intermediate category and Janna in the Junior category. We wish you both good luck!
