SVCA reduces warning in Pinkerton to flood watch, extends water safety statement
The Saugeen Valley Conservation Area (SVCA) has reduced the flood warning specific to Pinkerton in the Municipality of Brockton, to a flood watch. Intervention measures undertaken have been effective in reducing flows over Bruce County Road 15 and around impacted residences.
However, the Teeswater River continues to flow through low-lying areas in Pinkerton and impacted residences remain at a heightened risk of flooding. Residents are advised to closely monitor conditions, and use an abundance of caution. If you experience a flood emergency and are in danger, call 911.
Flooding remains localized to Pinkerton and is not expected to impact nearby or downstream areas.
The water safety statement, previously issued for the remaining watershed, has been extended. Water levels in local rivers and streams have continued to decline throughout the week but remain high. Periods of freezing rain Friday (March 20) will create slippery, dangerous conditions around all watercourses. The public is encouraged to exercise extreme caution around local waterways.
SVCA staff will be closely monitoring watershed conditions and will provide an update if conditions change. This message will remain in effect until Wednesday, March 25, at 4:30 p.m., unless updated otherwise.
