​10th annual Hike for Hospice slated for May 9 in Kincardine

The 10th annual Hike for Hospice, in support of Huron Shores Hospice, will be held Saturday, May 9, rain or shine, beginning at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine.

This year, hike individually, rally together a team of friends and family, join the corporate challenge, or challenge a friend or co-worker, to help raise money for compassionate and dignified end-of-life care in the community.

Registration for hikers will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Davidson Centre. The event kicks off at 10 a.m., with participants hiking together from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., ending back at the Davidson Centre for prizes, activities and the announcement of the grand total raised.

This year’s hike holds special significance as Huron Shores Hospice moves forward with the opening of its third hospice suite, part of the "Room for More Compassion" initiative. This expansion reflects a growing community need and the shared commitment to ensure that no one faces end-of-life alone. Community awareness, participation, and donations play a vital role in making this next chapter possible.

Whether you’re hiking in memory of a loved one, to honour a journey, or simply to stand in solidarity with families in hospice care, your involvement truly matters. One step, one donation, one story — each creates a ripple that helps Huron Shores Hospice provide compassionate, no-cost hospice care close to home.

All funds raised stay right here in the community, supporting residential hospice care as well as programs, such as Death Cafés, Grief Support Groups, and End-of-Life Planning Workshops.

Hike for Hospice is so much more than a walk, it’s a celebration of compassion, connection, and the collective power of a community that shows up for one another.
