​Victim in stable but critical condition after fire at high school in Wingham
(WINGHAM, ON) - April 7, shortly after 8 a.m., members of the Huron County OPP, along with Huron County Emergency Medical Services and the North Huron Fire Department, responded to the report of an individual who was on fire at F.E. Madill Secondary School in Wingham.

The individual sustained life-threatening injuries and is in stable but critical condition after being transported by air ambulance to a trauma centre. There are no other reported injuries.

Following the school evacuation, fire crews assessed the building and have cleared the area.

John Street East and Summit Drive, surrounding the school, have been re-opened as Huron OPP, along with the West Region OPP Forensic Identification Services, have released the scene back to the Avon Maitland District School Board.

All student inquires should be directed to the Avon Maitland District School Board at communications@ed.amdsb.ca.

Anyone with video footage related to this incident is requested not to distribute it.

The investigation is ongoing.
