Kincardine Legion Corner
This Sunday, April 19, we have our
General Membership Meeting at 2 p.m. which will be followed by our
annual Branch Elections meeting. In order to vote, your membership must be paid and up-to-date. You can find the list of members who have put their names forward for the Branch executive on the board in the front hall. Members, please remember we are E-mailing all the documents for this Sunday’s meeting to you, in our efforts to reduce paper. If any member is not receiving the meeting agendas and other documents, please reach out to us at
05-183@legion.ca and let us know. See you Sunday!
The
Kin Cares 50/50 Draw continues to grow! We have passed the $11,000 mark and the jackpot continues to climb. Thanks to everyone who joined us in person and watched live on-line for our first Early Bird draw, Friday, April 10. Everyone enjoyed the toasting, the cake, and the fun. Thanks to Dr. Jason Murray and his family who attended the event. Congratulations to Doug Holtby on becoming the first-ever Early Bird winner, taking home the $500 cash prize. The next Early Bird draw is tomorrow (April 17) so be sure you have your tickets. Your monthly tickets put you in for all the Early Birds (after your purchase) as well as the month-end jackpot draw.

At the
Saturday Meat Draw, Charlie Samms once again had a lucky day and won three prizes to be the triple-dipper. It would be interesting if we had statistics showing ‘most meat draw wins’, but I bet if we did, Charlie would be up there in the top 10. In the 50/50 draw, congratulations go to Clarke Pollock who took home $195 cash prize.
Looking ahead over the next few weeks, we have lots on the go. So, check the coming events at the bottom of this column.
In May, we have our first
Music Bingo Night, Friday, May 1; and we welcome back HWY 19 who will be performing at the
Mega Meat Draw, May 9.
We have welcomed many new members already in 2026. For those who may not be aware, every Friday at the Legion we have a
Jam Session, also known as a kitchen party. Anyone is welcome to come and simply listen to the music, and there is no cost to attend. If you play an instrument and want to join in, you are welcome to do so.. Sometimes, there are five or six musicians, and sometimes, there are as many as 18-20. Brian Penner is the leader, and he is very welcoming to any new musicians who want to join the jam session. If you’re coming as part of the audience, you can relax, listen, have a drink and munchies, and sometimes there is even dancing. It is a very relaxed, fun time and open to everyone. You can find the Friday times listed on our monthly Legion event calendars. Please be aware this is a drop-in event, and sometimes, times need to be adjusted to accommodate hall rentals and there may be last-minute changes.
In
Legion Darts news, the seniors team of Steve Musselman, Dan Van DerVeeken, Al Brown and Terri Hogsden travelled to Victoria Harbour this past Saturday for the provincial dart tournament. Competition was friendly but fierce. The best of the best were competing. There were several competitors with very impressive credentials. Unfortunately, Team 183 was not in the running for the playoff rounds. Still, everyone put in a strong performance. The team appreciates all the support from Branch 183. Next up, our players will participate in the District competition, April 25 in Hespeler, for the mixed doubles and team competitions.
