KEAN welcomes about 30 volunteers to help clean up Station Beach, Kincardine, Sunday afternoon
A group of roughly 30 volunteers joined in a clean-up of Station Beach, Kincardine, Sunday afternoon.
The Kincardine Environmental Action Network (KEAN) provided buckets, gloves and grabbers, and the volunteers spread out along the beach, boardwalk, grassy area and hill, to gather litter.
Together, we cleaned up:
- 17 cans, 23 liquor cans
- 16 plastic bottles
- Five glass liquor bottles
- 12 coffee cups
- 15 plastic cups
- 30 plastic coffee tops
- 10 plastic cutlery
- 100 cigarette butts
- One battery
- One small propane cylinder
- One motor oil container
- Five large pieces of box-board
- Five large pieces of corrugated cardboard
- One foam mat
- Several large wood scraps
- Several pounds of miscellaneous plastic wrappers
- One large plastic bowl
- One plastic chair back
Needless to say, there was a lot collected and over 50 per cent was recyclable items, many of which probably blew out of bins. Please make sure to secure your recycling on pick-up day!

KEAN also encourages people to take up the "Fill-a-Bucket" challenge. Take a bucket when you go out walking and fill it with litter. Take a photo of you with your bucket of litter and post it with #KEAN #fillabucket.
