Purple Grove news

It was good to see so many friends at Marjorie Nicholson's 80th birthday party Saturday. Congratulations Marj!

Our heartfelt sympathy is sent to Jean Colling, the MacDonald and Brook families, on the death of her sister, Isabel Brook. We will miss seeing that happy smile when we go to Pinecrest Manor.

Sorry to hear so many folks are having to deal with the flu and other medical problems. Get well soon!

We are all looking forward to the Alzheimer's Coffee Break at RVilla, Wednesday, Jan. 21.

PURPLE GROVE WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

The January meeting of the Purple Grove Women's Institute was held at the home of Fran Farrell.
It was a fun meeting that began with a potluck lunch. As usually happens, there was lots of great food.
The meeting was opened by president Marilyn Reid. On behalf of the W.I. ladies, Marilyn congratulated June Elliott on her 68th wedding anniversary.
Diane Clifford read the Scripture. Secretary Fran Farrell read the minutes of the last meeting. The correspondence included the issue of the missing Tweedsmuir history books from the Bruce County libraries, and the cheque from the Independent newspaper. Names were put forward for the provincial volunteer awards. The District directors were reminded of the March meeting.

The Roll Call was answered with each member and guests giving a reading - serious or humorous. Auctioneer Joyce Farrell helped us all buy items that had been donated - such fun! It was decided that the funds would be donated to the Purple Grove Community Centre.
The meeting closed with everyone singing "O Canada."
