Norie Dickson of Kincardine remembered for her love of family and being a nurse
Norie Dickson of Kincardine died May 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family, at the age of 78.
Deeply missed and forever remembered by her loving partner, Donna Murray, as well as Donna’s extended family.
Beloved mom of Tania (Pat Parkinson) and Kyla (Russ O’Handley). Norie devoted her life to being a mom. She had a gift for being exactly where she was needed, exactly when she was needed — no hesitation, no conditions, just love. If we called, she came. If we needed her, she was already on her way.
Her greatest joy in life was being “Grandma Nor” to her cherished granddaughters, Lily, Leah, and Clare O’Handley. She treasured every moment spent with them — from celebrations and sleepovers to lively visits filled with laughter and everyday conversations. Her love for her girls was endless, and the bond they shared was one she held closest to her heart.
Dearly loved sister of Elaine (Gary Goesell), Darlene (Jim Hanniman), Gwen (Bob MacArthur), and Connie (Gerry Bryan), Norie was also a proud and loving aunt to Shannon and Heather; Kelly and Curtis; Bobbi, Tabitha and Chad; Billy and Philip; and their families.
Predeceased by her parents, Harold and Irma Slessor.
Norie dedicated many years to nursing, a profession that reflected who she was at her core — compassionate, selfless, and strong. She had a natural ability to comfort others, to make them feel safe, and to bring calm during difficult moments. Her kindness extended far beyond her work; it was simply the way she lived each and every day.
To know Norie was to know laughter. She had a wonderful sense of humour, a quick wit, and an ability to light up any room. She made friends wherever she went and had a gift for making people feel special and valued. Her love, generosity, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Though our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the memories, love, and laughter she leaves behind. Norie’s spirit will live on in the family she adored, and the countless lives she touched.
Family and friends are invited to a come and go Celebration of Life, Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 1-4 p.m., at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 183, Kincardine.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Huron Shores Hospice or Ronald McDonald House Charities would be appreciated by the family; arrangements entrusted to the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine.
