Huron-Kinloss opens residential recycling depot at Huron Landfill

Huron-Kinloss opens residential recycling depot at Huron Landfill

Following recent changes to Ontario’s Blue Box program, the Township of Huron-Kinloss has secured approval to open a residential recycling depot at the Huron Landfill, south of Ripley.

As part of the provincial transition, curbside Blue Box collection expanded to accept more materials, including corrugated cardboard. With these changes, many community cardboard recycling bins were removed across Ontario.

The residential recycling depot accepts all eligible Blue Box recyclable materials, providing an additional option for residents — particularly those without access to curbside Blue Box service.

The depot has limited capacity and is in place to help ensure all residents have a way to recycle. Residents without curbside collection can use the depot during regular hours to meet their recycling needs.

Residents with curbside service are encouraged to continue using their home Blue Box collection as their primary recycling method, and to use the depot occasionally, when needed, to help manage capacity for everyone.

The residential recycling depot is located at the Huron Landfill, 2087 Concession Road 6 E, Ripley. The depot is open Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Note: the depot is operating under a temporary three-year contract.
