Edwin Donald McGillivray of Ripley died peacefully, May 28, 2026, a day after his 74th birthday.
He grew up in Kincardine Township and settled in Ripley where he lived for the past 50 years.
Predeceased by his first wife, Sandra (nee Collins); his brother, Ken; and step-siblings, Lee Emmerton and Diane McLeod; his parents, Eunice Emmerton (and Wib) and Wilmer McGillivray, and in-laws, John Collins and Debbie McGillivray.
Ed was a dear father, partner, brother, grandpa, uncle, and friend.
Survived by his partner, Janice; his children, Kelly (David), Kristy, and Matthew; his brother, Rick McGillivray; and step-brothers, Bob and Steve Emmerton.
He’ll be missed by his grandkids, in-laws, Marlene Collins, and Margie and David Lochhead; as well as his nieces and nephews, friends, and Janice’s wonderful family.
Ed worked at Bruce Power for 39 years. He was an active community member, known as a volunteer fireman for 25 years, a regular Legion Hall volunteer, and someone you could always call if you needed a hand.
He was a Jack-of-all-trades who could fix anything, including small engines. He enjoyed fun times at the Legion, his grandkids, fishing, and creating beautiful woodwork.
A private graveside service will be conducted at the Ripley Cemetery, with a Celebration of Life held at a later date.
