Donald McPherson, formerly of Kincardine, dies at the age of 77

Donald Roy McPherson of Hawkesbury, formerly of Kincardine, died May 10, 2026, at the age of 77.

Survived by his wife of almost 26 years, Marilyn; sister, Heather of Australia; daughters, Tracy Jansen (Simon) and Robin Lauzon (Kim); step-daughter, Shelley Hall (Richard); step-son, Ken Hall (Myriam); and nine grandchildren, Jack, Trevor, Ian, Wyatt, Eden, Marlie, Evalyn, Juliette and MacKenzie.

Born Feb. 12, 1949, in Barrie, Don was the son of Maurice and Margaret McPherson (both predeceased). He graduated from Queen’s University and pursued a career in engineering.

Throughout his life, he lived in Barrie, Trenton, Deep River, Kincardine, Whitby, Amherstview, and Hawkesbury. Many years were spent working for Ontario Hydro at the Bruce Nuclear station while he raised his daughters in Kincardine with their mother, Lynn.

Don retired early from Hydro while working at Darlington and eventually, he and Marilyn settled in Amherstview with beautiful views of Lake Ontario.

He always enjoyed playing a round of golf whenever he could, and watching a hockey game was a favourite pastime. In his retirement years, he volunteered as a director for the Original Hockey Hall of Fame in Kingston.

His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Cremation has taken place, with interment in Brockville Cemetery.
