Summer road work begins across Bruce County

After a lengthy winter season that gave way to dramatic spring flooding, Bruce County’s crews are moving into their summer road maintenance work.

The Transportation and Environmental Services team is responsible for approximately 691 kilometres of road and 148 bridges within the region. The warmer weather has already seen crews begin work on improving roads, bridges, and structures. Efforts include line-painting, culvert replacement, roadside-mowing and clearing ditches, as well as other construction and maintenance projects.

It’s a busy time of year for those who work on maintaining our road network,” said warden Luke Charbonneau. “Please, wherever your travels take you, be patient. Reduce your speed and pay attention to the signs and instructions in construction zones for everyone’s safety. Crew members have people who care about them, so let’s make sure they can go home to them at the end of their work day.”

Summer construction and maintenance efforts are part of the county’s commitment to public infrastructure, community well-being and safe travel across the region. Learn more about transportation services at www.brucecounty.on.ca/departments/highways.
