The Ripley and District Horticultural Society's "For Our Youth" club is planning to hold its first meeting of the new year by working on entries for the Ontario Horticultural Association Poster Competition.
The meeting will be held Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Huron-Kinloss Township hall, from 10 a.m. to Noon. Everyone, even adults, are invited to join and let their creative juices flow. Contest rules and materials will be available at the meeting.
The poster competition theme, "Around our Home and Native Land," fits well with plans for the youth club this year.
Last year, the club learned about plants in leader Heather Newman's garden.

This year, the youth club will expand on this by studying native plants and making seedballs during the March Break Program, slated for Wednesday, March 16, at 1:30 p.m., at the Ripley Complex.
Club meetings are held the third Saturday of the month, in May, June, July, August, September and November. Young people must be six years of age to attend.
In 2015, the club members had a lot of fun learning about the great outdoors, and they and their leaders are looking forward to another great year of studying "all things bright and beautiful."
