Tomorrow night, June 19, is our second Music Bingo Night. It will be a super fun night of music, daubing, and hopefully, some singing and dancing if the music inspires you to do so. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and we start the first game at 7 p.m. Don’t worry if you think you won’t know some of the songs. MC Russ will be on the mic to give you some hints so you can get each song marked on your card. Russ may even impart some music knowledge and trivia, but it will be up to you to decide which facts are true and which are mere fabrications. As we did last month, we will be doing five playlists over the evening, but not the same playlists as last month, these will be five new themed playlists. You can buy a booklet with two cards for each of the five games for $10, and don’t forget your daubers (and singing voice). Hope to see you there!

The Kincardine area athletes delivered an outstanding performance at the 2026 Royal Canadian Legion District C Crystal Taylor Memorial Track and Field Meet in Cambridge, capturing numerous district titles and demonstrating exceptional depth across both track and field events. Kincardine athletes were particularly dominant in the distance races and throwing events, with Elena Moore, Michalina Wilkiewicz, Taylin Taverner, Marysia Wilkiewicz, Evie Turland, and Adalee Turland all earning district championships.

The throwing events proved to be a major strength for the Kincardine contingent. Evie Turland and Adalee Turland combined for multiple gold medals, with Adalee posting an impressive 40.59 metres in discus and 14.34 metres in shot put. Marysia Wilkiewicz also claimed a field event title, adding to the team's medal haul.

On the track, Kincardine athletes excelled in the middle and long-distance races. Elena Moore captured two district championships, while Michalina Wilkiewicz and Taylin Taverner added victories of their own. Strong supporting performances from Mikayla Hyre, Taylor Taverner, and Nathaniel Hyre helped ensure Kincardine was well-represented across multiple age divisions.

In Zone golf news, eight teams from Branch 183 competed in the Zone Tournament in Goderich with seven of our teams advancing to the District competition in July in Clinton. Congratulations to all the teams, but especially Keith and Jake Colley in the regular men's division, and Brenda Cooper and Carolyn Kelly in the ladies' division. Both teams were champions and brought home trophies. Best of luck in the next round everyone!

The June Kin Cares 50/50 Draw is now up over $12,000 and climbing. Congratulations to Butch Zettle (and friends), who won $500 in last Friday’s first June Early Bird draw. This Friday, June 19, will be our second $500 Early Bird Draw. So, get your tickets soon to be in the draw tomorrow. Tickets will remain available until June 30, with the grand prize winner being announced July 1. Tickets can be purchased on-line at kincares5050.ca. You can also get them in person at the bar at Branch 183 and now you can also buy them at the Auxiliary Gift Shop at the Kincardine Hospital.

At the Saturday Meat Draw, we had double double-dippers. Both Stephanie Rutledge and Lynn Evans won two prizes each. The 50/50 draw of $121 was won by Alex Lussier.

A few reminders ... sign-up is now open at the Legion Bar for the next Trivia Night, Friday, June 26. Also, don’t forget that we are barbecuing burgers before Bingo each Thursday night. You can come eat a yummy burger even if you don’t plan on staying for Bingo.

Canada Day will be here soon, and we are preparing to host HWY 19, once again, outside in the parking lot because the weather is going to be wonderful! We will have lots of food, drink and fun, so plan to be there! We open at Noon, and the band will take the stage, or rather the trailer, at about 1 p.m. Legion members, we could still use some volunteers July 1, so if you would like to help for part of that day, reach out to our new ways and means chairperson, Jill Hunter, at jillhunter183@gmail.com and she can let you know where we still need some help.

Legion members, remember there are no General Membership meetings in July and August, but there are a ton of other things happening so we expect we will see you quite a bit over the summer, when it eventually arrives.

If you are not yet a Branch 183 member, what are you waiting for? To celebrate the Royal Canadian Legion’s 100th anniversary, new members can join for free for 2026. Why not join more than 200 others who have already joined our branch? You can drop in or sign up on-line as well. We are planning to host another new member open house in the fall, so stay tuned for that date.

Finally, just as a “save-the-date” notice, we will be having a Veterans’ Barbecue, followed by a public open house, Friday, July 17. That date is the 100th Anniversary of the Legion, so it’s a fitting date to thank our veterans for their service and to celebrate the Legion Centenary year. So, mark that date down and help us let our local veterans know about this day.

Coming Events:

  • Wednesday, July 1 - Canada Day Barbecue with HWY 19

  • Friday, July 17 - Veterans’ Barbecue and Open House - more details to follow

  • Friday, July 24 - Music Bingo Night - 7 p.m.

  • Sunday, July 26 - Family Dinner - 5 p.m.
