About a dozen students were keeping the beat as they gave a drumming performance at Ecole Elgin Market Public School in Kincardine, Friday afternoon, June 12.

Working with members of the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band since early this spring, the Grade 6 students were playing tenor drums, snare drums and bass drums, as well as snare drum kits with glowing drum sticks.

It was part of a musical show which included the primary choir and the junior band.

The choir, under the direction of Sue Thompson and accompanied by Patt Lowry, sang the song, "Wonderful Life," that won the choir gold at the Walkerton Rotary Music Festival earlier this year.

Two of the snare drummers, Evan Wilbur and Jaxon Capeling, plan to join the pipe band this summer.
