Kincardine girl donates Locks of Love for second time

For a second time, Mikaela Hackett (right, in photo with Hailey Hartwick) has donated her hair for Locks of Love.

The Kincardine girl went to Hailey Hartwick of After Hours Haircuts who trimmed more than 11 inches of Mikaela's hair, giving her a shorter hairdo, and allowing her the chance to make another donation to the organization.

Locks of Love is a public, non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially-disadvantaged children throughout North America, under age 21, suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. It meets a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest-quality hair prosthetics.

Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses provided by the organization, help to restore children's self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.
