Sad to see Hartwick property turned into housing development, say readers

To the Editor:
RE: "New development plan calls for 450 units on old Hartwick Farm property"

Concerning the development on the old Hartwick property just north of the Kincardine boundary, we wonder how this can be done without upgrades to the sewage system? Perhaps 20 years ago, this development could not be done before the sewage system was updated.

It is sad because the Hartwick brothers stated that there was to be NO housing development on that property! We realize that does not hold water with the changes since they have all passed away, but do we really need all this development?

Obviously, someone has the property and is planning on making lots of money selling and developing the acreage.

We wanted to buy that property 25 years ago and put a campground in there, but the last of the Hartwick boys would not sell it to us. We are the only ones to carry the Hartwick name and would have liked to keep it in the Hartwick name.

Depends on who owns it, and what they want to do with it and how much money they have.

Will the upgrades to the sewage system be taken care of by the taxpayers?

Just our thoughts on the subject.

Sincerely,
Wayne and Joan Hartwick
Kincardine
