About 40 sponsors, supporters, mentors and members of the Kinetic Knights Robotics Team (FRC Team 781) of Kincardine gathered at the Kincardine Legion, Tuesday evening (June 30), for a dinner to celebrate the 2025-26 season.
Among the major sponsors present, were Bruce Power, the Kincardine Legion, McKechnie Pharmacy, Enbridge, the Nuclear Innovation Institute, the Municipality of Kincardine and the Kincardine Record.
Following the delicious meal, head mentor David Dadson welcomed everyone and noted that the dinner is an opportunity for the team to thank its many sponsors, as well as the mentors and families, for their support throughout the season. It's also a chance to show off this year's robot.
Team 781 attended the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Ontario District events in Oshawa and Windsor, and the Ontario Championships in Niagara Falls, winning a championship banner at the Durham College event in Oshawa.
Kincardine mayor Kenneth Craig said the municipality is proud to sponsor the robotics team as the members learn skills that will serve them well in the future.
Kinetic Knights Robotics board chairman Joel Courtney said this is a very important program.
"The success that FRC Team 781 had this season was incredible," he said. "The memories you have made will stay with you forever, and the skills you have gained, you never know where they're going to take you. To the mentors, thank you for all you do for the team, and to the sponsors, thank you for your generous support of this team."
Team co-captains Gabrielle Geberdt and Ibrahim Syed also thanked the sponsors, mentors, families and their fellow team members for the hard work and dedication this year.
"This season was not an easy one," said Gabrielle, "but we worked together and persevered, and improved, making us a stronger team."
"We're not just building a robot, we're building skills and leadership," said Ibrahim. "We're looking forward to the 2026-27 season; and to our sponsors, your continued support is invaluable."
Dadson pointed out that FRC Team 781 will be celebrating its 25th anniversary when it begins the season in September.
The Kinetic Knights Robotics Team is a community youth robotics organization, open to young people, ages 13-19, in Kincardine. Currently, there are about 15 members and six mentors who focus on various aspects of team-building, as well as constructing a robot to enter in FIRST competitions.
