The following is a message from Graham Mahood and Kathryn Freimanis, co-chairpersons of the Kincardine Hospital capital campaign:
The momentum behind the Kincardine Hospital redevelopment and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine project continues to grow, with community support reaching new heights this summer.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation has now raised $14.5-million toward the $18-million local share required for the project. That leaves $3.5-million, but we are narrowing the gap every month!
Our annual Giving Cruise Day is back at the next Kincardine Cruise Night, with $50,000 in matching donations generously provided by Wayne and Janet Palmateer and Dotty McClelland. Every dollar donated July 31 will be matched up to $50,000. Help us unlock 100 per cent of the matching donations by on that date - on-line all day or in person at our Giving Cruise Day tent on Queen Street (in front of HuronTel), during Cruise Night.
The June Kin Cares 50/50 Draw reached a record jackpot, celebrated with a special guest announcer — Duncan Hawthorne. The July draw is on track for an even bigger jackpot. Get your tickets on-line at kincares5050.ca or stop by the Kincardine Legion, the Kincardine Hospital Gift Shop or look for our ticket squad at events around town. All proceeds stay right here in Kincardine, supporting veterans and community initiatives as well as the hospital expansion and MRI.
We’re honoured to acknowledge a couple of the remarkable gifts received in recent weeks: $25,000 from John and Diane Satosek, made in tribute to Dr. Gary Gurbin’s retirement; and $10,000 from Duncan and Lesley Hawthorne, a surprise on Canada Day. These gifts — and every donation, large or small — bring us closer to the finish line.
Visitors to the Kincardine Hospital will now see a new Capital Campaign Donor Wall installed at the main entrance. This display celebrates the donors who are helping make the redevelopment and MRI possible. With $3.5-million left to raise, community members can add their name to the wall by donating at www.kincardinefoundation.ca.
Our team has been in the community, sharing the images of the redeveloped hospital and feeling the excitement as this project moves closer to reality.
