VanSlade Productions to stage "Misery" at SS Stables in Kincardine

VanSlade Productions of Kincardine is in rehearsals to stage the play, "Misery," based on the novel by Stephen King, in September at SS Stables in Kincardine.

This fast-paced and exciting thriller follows successful romance novelist Paul Sheldon, who is rescued from a car crash by his "number one fan," Annie Wilkes, and wakes up captive in her secluded home.

While Paul is convalescing, Annie reads his latest book and becomes enraged when she discovers the author has killed off her favourite character, Misery Chastain. Annie forces Paul to write a new "Misery" novel, and he quickly realizes that Annie has no intention of letting him go anywhere. The irate Annie has Paul writing as if his life depends on it, and it does.

The play, adapted by William Goldman, features local actors Elaine Slade as Annie,Tom Albrecht as Paul, and John F. Adams as Buster, the sheriff.

The show runs Sept. 10-12 and 16-19, at 8 p.m., with doors open at 7:30 p.m., at SS Stables, 2328 Highway 21, north of the Town of Kincardine. Experience cold-blooded thrills in a cozy little barn!

This production is from the horror-thriller genre which includes physical violence and murder. It has strong language and profanity, including repeated use of the F-word. There are some frightening and suspenseful interactions. It is an adult-themed play, running 90 minutes with no intermission.
