As devastating wildfires continue to affect northern Ontario communities, Bruce Power, its supplier partners and employees are stepping up to support relief and recovery efforts by matching up to $100,000 in donations to True North Aid and the Canadian Red Cross.
With wildfires forcing evacuations and disrupting lives across northern Ontario and other parts of Canada, Bruce Power and its supplier partners are pledging up to $50,000 to True North Aid, which provides humanitarian support to northern and remote Indigenous communities, and up to $50,000 to the Canadian Red Cross for wildfire relief efforts.
Through this initiative, Bruce Power will match donations up to $100,000 and is encouraging anyone who is able to contribute through www.brucepower.com/2026/07/30/northernontariostrong.
“We’ve all seen the images on the news of the loss many communities are suffering and the effects it’s having on the people who live in northern Ontario and across Canada,” said James Scongack, chief operating officer and executive vice-president of Bruce Power. “We’re joining with our supplier partners and employees to raise money to help and we invite you to donate to this worthy cause if you’re able to do so.”
Contributions will help support immediate relief and long-term recovery efforts and may be used to support evacuees, assist affected communities, and provide critical support as communities rebuild.
True North Aid states that its approach is guided by Indigenous self-determination, with affected families and community leaders identifying priorities while the organization co-ordinates the support that is needed.
The campaign also serves as a reminder of the connection among environmental sustainability, air quality and public health. Wildfires have become an increasing source of air pollution across Canada, contributing to air-quality concerns that can affect communities hundreds or even thousands of kilometres from the source of a fire.
As one of Canada's largest clean-energy suppliers, Bruce Power safely produces reliable, affordable, low-carbon electricity that helps Ontario avoid greenhouse-gas emissions and maintain some of the cleanest electricity generation in the world.
