Traffic stop results in impaired charge for Hanover driver

(BROCKTON, ON) - A Hanover resident has been charged, following a traffic stop during proactive long weekend patrols.

Aug. 1, at 11:12 p.m., members of the South Bruce OPP were conducting radar patrols along Highway 9 in the Municipality of Brockton, when officers observed a vehicle speeding.

During the interaction, officers noticed signs of impairment with the driver and placed the individual under arrest.

Francis O'NEILL, 67, of Hanover has been charged with:

• Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs

• Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

• Speeding one to 49km/h over posted limit

The accused was released from custody with a court date scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice - Walkerton, Sept. 9.

The vehicle involved was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused's driver's licence was suspended for a period of 90 days.
