At the Saturday Meat Draw, Scott Allen was the double-dipper, winning two meat prizes. Congratulations to Tryntje Grey, who took home the $137.50 cash prize in the 50/50 draw.
New Event Alert! Get ready for a classic East Coast celebration right here at the branch! Tickets are officially on sale for our Down East Lobster Feast, Saturday, Sept. 12! We’re kicking off the afternoon with live, high-energy music from The Celtic Hillbillies to set the vibe. Doors open at 3 p.m., the tunes start pumping at 4 p.m., and a mouth-watering East Coast spread, featuring fresh lobster rolls, kettle chips, and a sweet dessert, will be served up starting at 5 p.m. Tickets are $35 each; available now at the Legion bar. Grab yours before they sell out, bring your appetite, and join us for an unforgettable afternoon of great food, lively tunes, and community fun!
Here are a few August reminders to help you plan your month. Sunday, Aug. 9, will be another Lighthouse Swing Band Dance from 2-5 p.m. in the hall. This 18-piece band will be playing some great tunes as the theme is “Latin Heat.” There are free dance lessons by instructor Carmen Coburn. Admission is $20 per person.
We also have our next Music Bingo Night, Friday, Aug. 21, so share the date in your group chats and invite your friends and family for a fun musical night.
In August, we have Jam Sessions, Aug. 7 at 7 p.m., Aug. 21 at 2 p.m., and Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. There will not be a Jam Session, Aug. 14, as renovations are being done upstairs in the Club Room. Don’t forget, the hall bar will be open all week next week while the work is being done. As well, there will be NO Meat Draw, Aug. 15. International Left-Handers Day is celebrated annually, Aug. 13, with the aim of raising awareness about the daily challenges faced by left-handed people (who make up about 10 per cent of the population) around the world. We have our Thursday Night Bingo that evening, so perhaps all you right-handed people should practise some left-handed daubing, because rumour has it that might be suggested for that event!
