The Kincardine and District Lions Club welcomes everyone to the grand opening of the All-Wheel Park, beside the Davidson Centre in Kincardine, Sunday, Aug. 16, at 1 p.m.
The event will feature demonstrations by riders on skateboards, BMX bikes, and scooters, as well as, prizes, T-shirt give-aways, and the famous Lions barbecue.
Work began on the All-Wheel Park in mid-May and the facility, located west of Lions Park and the splash pad, opened July 15.

This project is the culmination of many years of work to make Lions Park a "premier destination for families."
In 2011, the Kincardine Lions presented a 10-year plan to Kincardine council, with a splash pad, washrooms and an updated skate park to be added to the existing playground at Lions Park.
The splash pad was completed in 2015, the washrooms and picnic shelter in 2016, and in January, 2020, the Lions approached the municipality with the next phase which was to update the skate park, with the creation of an "All-Wheel Park." Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed this project.
The club entered a major fund-raising campaign and in 2024, again approached the municipality, requesting that the project be included in the operational budget for the upcoming fiscal year. A municipal grant was approved and the fund-raising campaign was then in a position to proceed with tendering for the park, with the Lions providing 60-per-cent-plus of the funding.
The project is a partnership between the municipality and the Lions Club. Following a competitive procurement process, the design-build contract was awarded to Drop In Skateparks, a firm specializing in community skate park design and construction.
