Ontario accepting new applications for Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund

Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson, along with the ministry of sport, has announced that the next round of Ontario's $500-million Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund (CSRIF) is now open for applications.

This round of funding will make $100-million available, and applications will be accepted until Dec. 22.

The CSRIF, which funds the construction and repair of local sport and recreation facilities, was increased to $500-million from $200-million in the most recent provincial budget, with the aim of supporting local community projects, creating good-paying jobs, promoting active, healthy living and giving the next generation of Ontario athletes a place to train and hone their skills.

The first round of CSRIF has already enabled nearly 100 projects, including the construction of 17 new facilities and the revitalization of 77 more, supporting thousands of local jobs in construction.

The CSRIF is a cost-shared program to:

  • Foster healthier and more active lifestyles for families

  • Make sport more accessible

  • Support local jobs

  • Help more communities across the province host local, national and international sporting events and competitions

The program provides funding to municipalities, Indigenous communities, non-profit organizations and (for new builds only) for-profit organizations through two program streams for projects that:

If applicants have questions about eligibility or their proposed project, they can connect with their Regional Development Advisor.
