To the Editor:
You ask why, so I will tell you. Someone or some people came to our beautiful Tiverton Walk of Memories and destroyed a memorial bench and stole a plaque with 20 names on it.
This is not acceptable. Your actions have hurt the families of the people whose names were on the plaque. Plus, you have tarnished the memory they have of their loved ones.
The Walk of Memories is not a playground, a bicycle park or a place to take what is not yours. So, kindly return what does not belong to you and destroy your own things, not what belongs to others.
Many people have volunteered their time to make the Walk of Memories a place to cherish the memory of loved ones or friends who have passed away over the years.
The Tiverton and District Lions, the Municipality of Kincardine, and many volunteers have worked hard making the Walk of Memories what it is today.
This vandalism will not deter their efforts to keep this place special.
What was done is a crime and a lack of respect for others.
So, I beg you to please return what you took and stay away from the Walk of Memories, leaving it to those who care and are proud of this beautiful place.
