The big, yellow school buses were back on the road Tuesday morning, as students in the Kincardine area returned to school for the 2026-27 year.
School crossing guards were on duty for those who walk to school, and bus drivers and school staff were minding those who arrive by bus.
It was a warm, sunny day at Huron Heights Public School in Kincardine, as teachers and staff welcomed the Grades 3-6 students back to school.
Students also received a warm welcome at Kincardine Township-Tiverton Public School (KTTPS) which has Junior Kindergarten to Grade 2; Ecole Elgin Market Public School which has Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6 French Immersion, and St. Anthony's School, which has Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8.
The Grades 7-12 students at Kincardine District Senior School also returned to school Tuesday, and it was the first day of school for students at the public schools in Ripley and Lucknow which continue to be for Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8.
