Armow Wind donates $125,000 to local projects and programs
Armow Wind, a partnership between Samsung Renewable Energy and Pattern Energy Group, has donated $125,000 to projects and programs in the Kincardine area.
R.D. Lee, project director for Samsung Renewable Energy, was on hand to present $50,000 to Community Living of Kincardine and District, represented by executive director Andy Swan. The money will go toward the $1.3-million capital project - the new apartment complex on Saratoga Road, south of Kincardine. With this donation, the fund-raising has surpassed $1-million. Community Living continues its fund-raising efforts by hosting a Valentine's Gala, Saturday, Feb. 14, in the Kincardine Hall at the Davidson Centre.
Susan Novak of Armow Wind presented three other cheques to the following:
- $25,000 to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation, represented by vice-president Becky Fair, for the telemetry cardiac-monitoring system at the Kincardine hospital
- $25,000 to the Kincardine Family Health Team, represented by chief executive officer Gerry Glover, for the cardiac rehabilitation program at the Kincardine hospital
- $25,000 to the Kincardine Lions Club, represented by John McManus, for the Splash Pad project at the Davidson Centre. The Lions have reached their initial goal of $500,000 for this project, but the scope has changed due to feedback from the community and the municipality. These further enhancements will cost an additional $75,000
The Armow Wind project has completed the development phase and entered the construction phase, with operations based in the old Bruce Township Central Public School, now owned by Tennyson's, in Underwood.
