The Kincardine Bulldogs are at the bottom of the heap in the North Pollock Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL), after losing two more games last weekend at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine.
Friday, Oct. 2, they took an 8-0 shellacking at the hands of the Hanover Barons.
That night, the Bulldogs started the game by announcing that Dave Patterson, team president for the past 15 years, was stepping down, and Jay Bell was taking over as president of the hockey club.
Announcer Gord Kemp told the crowd that Patterson has spent countless hours being the leadership of the junior hockey program in Kincardine.
"His professionalism, passion and commitment to the team have been greatly appreciated," he said. "He will remain a member of the executive in a different capacity."
Meanwhile, Bell played minor hockey in Kincardine and enjoyed great success on the baseball field. He left home at an early age to attend school in the United States and pursue his love for baseball, eventually becoming a left-handed pitcher for the Missouri Tigers. Bell and his family live in Kincardine and the Bulldogs are excited to have him lead the program moving forward.
Saturday, Oct. 3, the Bulldogs lost, 6-1, to the Walkerton Capitals.
In that game, the Capitals were up 4-0 after two periods of play before Jared Houghton finally got the 'Dogs on the scoreboard in the third period, assisted by Brandon Bishop and Zach Lemon.
However, Walkerton scored two more to take the win.
The Bulldogs hope to improve their place in the standings with two more games this weekend. Friday, Oct. 9, they travel to Clinton for an 8:30 p.m. game, and Saturday, Oct. 10, they return to the Davidson Centre to face Hanover again, at 2:30 p.m.
