Melville (Mel) McConnell of Kincardine, beloved husband, father, and friend, died Nov. 3, 2026, at the age of 86.
Born May 30, 1940, in Kincardine, Mel was one of 15 children born to Russell and Mary McConnell. He grew up surrounded by a large family and was preceded in death by his beloved parents, as well as several brothers and a sister.
Mel lived a life filled with hard work, laughter, and love for his family and those around him.
A plumber by trade, he was highly respected for his skill, dedication, and strong work ethic. He took pride in his work and earned the respect of many throughout his years in the trade.
Beyond his work, Mel was a happy-go-lucky gentleman with a wonderful sense of humour. A natural kidder, he had a way of making people laugh and brightening any room he entered. His warmth, kindness, and infectious personality made him a friend to many, and he will be remembered for the joy he brought into the lives of others.
Mel was lovingly known as the “Coffee Man” at Trillium Court Seniors' Community in Kincardine, a nickname that perfectly captured his friendly nature and the special connections he made with those around him. Whether sharing a cup of coffee, a joke, or simply a smile, he had a way of making everyone feel welcome.
Above all, Mel cherished his family. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Elaine (Woolsey); his sons, Shawn (Karen), Greg (Darlene), and Scott (Tracey); and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His love, laughter, and the memories he created with his family will remain in their hearts forever.
Mel leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, hard work, and love. Though he will be deeply missed, the many smiles he brought to others will never be forgotten.
Rest peacefully, Mel. Thank you for the laughter, the love, and the memories. You will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew and loved you.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, Nov. 9, 2026, from 2-5 p.m., with speakers at 3 p.m., at the Kincardine Legion.
A private family interment will take place in the Kincardine Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family. Donations and condolences may be made on-line at www.cameronsofkincardine.com.
