Kincardine hands out $56,550 in community grants
The Municipality of Kincardine has handed out $56,550 in community grants for 2016.
Approved by Kincardine council at the meeting Wednesday night (April 6), the total included $25,000 for youth sports; $15,500 for arts, culture, heritage; $5,500 for social, health, environmental; $7,500 for tourism; $2,000 for multiple categories; and $1,000 for adult recreation.
Groups and organizations receiving grants include the following:
- Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Kincardine and District - $2,000
- Lighthouse Blues Festival - $3,000
- Bluewater Snowmobile Club - $1,000
- Tiverton Agricultural Society (for the annual fall fair) - $1,500
- Bluewater Summer Playhouse - $1,000
- Lovat Cemetery - $2,600
- Paisley Agricultural Society (for the annual fall fair) - $500
- Kincardine Community Concert Band - $1,000
- Victoria Park Gallery - $1,000
- Bruce County Plowman's Association (for the 2016 plowing match) - $450
- Paddy Walker Heritage Society - $1,000
- Kincardine Scottish Festival - $3,000
- Women's House Serving Bruce and Grey - $1,000
- Kincardine Summer Music Festival - $3,000
- Kincardine Theatre Guild - $1,000
- Community Living of Kincardine and District - $1,000
- Youth Waves - $1,000
- Kincardine and District Chamber of Commerce - $1,000
- Bruce Township Historical Society - $500
- PRANCE - $500
- Sundown Theatre - $1,000
- Penetangore Watershed Group - $1,000
- Kincardine Agricultural Society (for the annual fall fair) - $1,500
- Kincardine Saturday Farmers' Market - $1,000
Almost 30 organizations requested $126,418 in grants.
