The cardboard-recycling bins, located beside The Beef Way in the Municipality of Kincardine, have been removed.
Chief administrative officer Murray Clarke says the bins were put there as a courtesy for taxpayers, and by permission of the owner.
However, there has been constant misuse of the site in violation of the posted rules, he says, including the deposit of garbage and other inappropriate material, and the piling of material on the ground.
The municipality is reviewing alternative cardboard-recycling options.
Cardboard will be accepted at the Armow Waste Management Site, 437 Sideroad 15. The hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. to Noon.
