New Kincardine public works director is a Bruce County boy

Kincardine's new public works director, Adam Weishar, is a Bruce County boy and proud of it.

The 32-year-old was born and raised in Teeswater and went to Conestoga College in Kitchener to became a civil engineering technologist.

He worked for five years at R.J. Burnside and Associates in Wingham before taking the job of water-wastewater operator with the Municipality of South Bruce in 2011. Months later, he was promoted to manager of operations, a position he held until coming to Kincardine to tackle the job of public works director.

"I was looking for a new challenge," said Weishar, just prior to the Kincardine council meeting, Wednesday night (May 11) - his third day at work. "I thought this was a great opportunity. I've lived in Bruce County all my life and I want to stay here."

One of the major projects he was in charge of in South Bruce was the installation of new sewers, which took a lot of additional hours, he said.

He officially began his new job in Kincardine, Monday (May 9), and said it's been good so far. "People have been very welcoming. The first thing I'll be dealing with is the reconstruction of the municipal parking lot (east of Queen Street in downtown Kincardine)."

Weishar and his wife, live in Mildmay and have two sons, aged four and six months.

He was an active volunteer with minor hockey in Mildmay and Teeswater, and continues to enjoy hockey, golf and fishing.

"Welcome to the Municipality of Kincardine," said mayor Anne Eadie after introducing him at the start of Wednesday night's meeting.

"I look forward to working with all of you," said Weishar.
