Kennedy came to the health unit as associate medical officer of health in September, 2014. Her work as a public health physician in Grey-Bruce has centred on priority populations, childhood and family health, as well as a number of special projects. She continues to do research in applied public health economics and holds adjunct academic positions in both medical sciences and clinical sciences with Northern Ontario School of Medicine.
She has extensive experience in the practice of public health as a researcher, teacher, senior public health economist and consultant, medical officer of health, and a regional community medicine specialist for First Nations and Inuit Health Branch – Health Canada, in both Alberta Region and Ontario Region.
Kennedy received her medical degree from the University of Calgary, completing post-graduate training in both family medicine and community medicine at Queen’s University, Kingston. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada in Public Health and Preventive Medicine.
