New PRWIN project co-ordinator starts June 7
The Pine River Watershed Initiative Network (PRWIN) has a new project co-ordinator.

Emily Martin, 26, of Waterloo, takes on the job, June 7, from Adrienne Mason who is moving on to other opportunities.

With a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and a post-graduate certificate in eco-system restoration from Niagara College, Martin also has a Master's Degree in integrated biology from Wilfrid Laurier University.

She has a deep-seated interest in conservation because both her parents are biologists, and her father is a founding member of the Friends of the Grand River. "I've been involved in a lot of tree-planting, but not to the level you have here with the PRWIN."

Martin said she applied for the job because she wants some hands-on experience with water conservation, nutrient management and protection of fish habitat.

"This is a great community," she said. "It seems as if the people like the program and want to be part of its success."

She plans to move to the area, and in her spare time, enjoys hiking, camping, snow-boarding, squash, and rock-climbing.
