Tours begin from the Visitors’ Centre, July 2, with two tours per day from Monday to Saturday throughout July and August, excluding holidays, ending Sept. 2.
Scheduled at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., the free tours begin with a short film presentation in the visitors’ centre theatre, followed by a one-hour bus tour of the 2,300-acre Bruce Power site.
“We’re pleased to be offering the tours again this summer,” said James Scongack, vice-president, corporate affairs. “We added bus tours three days per week last year, and it was very successful, which is why we will be running the bus tours six days per week this year.”
Last summer, more than 2,000 people signed up for the bus tours with an additional 5,200 drop-in visitors arriving to view the exhibits and displays. This year is shaping up to be just as busy, with more than 1,400 individuals having already dropped by the visitors’ centre.
“For the fourth summer in a row, we’re extending our regular Monday to Friday hours to include Saturdays,” Scongack said. “Being the world’s largest operating nuclear site and the area’s largest employer, means there is a lot of public curiosity about Bruce Power. We’re happy to educate even more people about our site this summer.”
