Happy Father’s Day to all of the Dads out there. I’m sure you'll be treated like kings by your family. You deserve it!
We recently celebrated our own “Earth Hour,” Sunday, June 12. The power was out in most areas due to a tree branch taking down a power line, and because of this, a precautionary boil water advisory was issued for the Village of Tiverton. This was a good time to do some outdoor gardening or spend quality time with the family, but I’m sure everyone was glad to see the hydro come back on. I took the opportunity to go for a nice walk along Lake Street in Inverhuron. The wind was brutal, and I have to say, I walked a little faster than expected. I wasn’t dressed for a snowfall.
The renovations on the Tiverton water tower are coming along great. I was there nosing around and the workers invited me to check out the inside of the tower as they were stripping the paint down to metal. At the rate they are working, it will be done soon.
You can certainly tell the summer months are here just by seeing the line of people going in and out of the fudge shop in Tiverton. Actually it’s Crafts and Stuff but everyone calls it the fudge store since the fudge there is the best I’ve ever had. If you haven’t tried it yet, you must take a trip there.
Tiverton Blooms
Well I’m sure with this nice weather and rain, people in the village have started their gardens. Tiverton Blooms will be holding its “Gardens of Distinction” awards again this year. There are so many amazing gardens in Tiverton, including Underwood and Glammis. Even some rural gardens are maintained beautifully. If you think your neighbor, friend, relative or you, yourself, have a garden of merit, please submit a nomination. Businesses are also eligible. Ballot boxes will be placed again at Kwik-Way in Tiverton and at Tiverton Park Manor. Gardens will be judged mid-July so get your nomination in as soon as possible.
Knox Presbyterian Church News
Knox Presbyterian Church will be holding a Yard Sale, Saturday, June 25, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. If you wish to donate any artifacts or treasures, please bring them to the church Wednesday, June 22, after 1 p.m., or all day Thursday, June 24 and Friday, June 25. All proceeds go toward the purchase of new chairs.
Mark these dates on your calendars: Inverhuron will be holding its annual Kids' Day, Saturday, July 2, and Saturday, July 9. There will be a “Beach Walk” and ecological experts will be in attendance to help residents/cottagers deal with invasive species. This event will be hosted on the public beach. Details to follow.

The Reel Art contest has returned to the library! Come to the Tiverton branch of the Bruce County Public Library, to see the display fish and pick up one of your own. Call 519-368-5655 - library hours are: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 1:30-7 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Closed Sunday and Wednesday.
