The Kincardine Montgomery Ford Midget girls got back on the ice after exam week to play a make-up league game against the Lucknow Sailorettes “C” team, Sunday afternoon, and won, 4-2.
Both teams had a delay, waiting for the end of the Bulldogs-Mount Forest playoff game which went into overtime, and, of course, everyone wanting to get home to watch the Superbowl!
The Kinucks and Sailorettes came to the rink wanting the same thing, to score, as the game stayed close - really, just a goal apart.
Kincardine opened the scoring, but 15 seconds into the second period, Lucknow tied up the game 1-1.
However, the Kinucks gained the lead and kept it through to the end, scoring an insurance marker with 13 seconds left in the third period for a 4-2 victory.
This was the first time since the start of the season that the entire Montgomery Ford team roster was present. it's a good time for this as the Kinucks are attending the Silver Stick tournament in Saugeen Shores this coming weekend and soon starting their provincial playdown playoffs!
Goals in the game against Lucknow, were scored by Ashley McConnell –1, Kelsey Padfield –1, Eden McFarlane –2.
