Local figure skater Rosie Laidler has reached the pinnacle of her skating career by earning her gold level in dance Jan. 25 in Mount Forest.
Believed to be the only Special Olympic female skater to pass all of the gold level dances, Laidler can add this achievement to her gold level for interpretive.
Her impressive career includes competing with Special Olympics for 20 years, receiving medals in six provincial and four national winter games.
She won gold and silver medals at the World Winter Games in 2001 at Anchorage, Alaska, and has just returned from the provincials in North Bay with gold medals for freeskate and dance, making her the top ladies Special Olympic skater in Ontario.
The daughter of Ray and Joy Laidler of Kincardine, she is a a long-time member of both the Ripley-Huron Skating Club and Kincardine Skating Club, having skated with many wonderful coaches, most recently Curtis Moore and Lorilee Nelson.
Skating is Laidler's passion, and her skating families everywhere celebrate her incredible achievements!
