Congratulations to Kincardine District Secondary School graduates

This week, we have honoured many of our youth who have achieved excellence in academia, sports and activities.

I congratulate everyone who graduated with a special mention, to multiple award winners, and wish for you all a bright future to serve for society so that as Kincardine residents we can feel proud.

It is good to see the students have completed one stage of their lives and are now progressing to a challenging new phase of learning, to meet the demands of the present and those of the future.

Parents and well-wishers, out of love, constantly emphasize their high expectations, to their children. Peer values are strong and influencing but now you all have reached a point where you can make decisions in your interest and maintain a good balance in your life. Study for a bright and healthy future while maintaining good health, understanding the value of resources and connectivity.

You, as a young adult, and we, as parents, both have the same goal: your progress and your happiness. Sacrificing studies and health for laziness or misusing valuable time, means a loss of future; and if one is failing, tough decisions must be made toward stricter self-control.

As parents, we always emphasize value-based balanced development. So, understand that the stress, anger, fear and developmental aspects of piecing together for self-growth can occur mostly by integrating: (1) self-discipline, (2) planning and implementing right actions and decisions and self-check, (3) using energy, interest, love and persistence in the right direction, (4) learning to positively deal with criticism, anger and fear, and (5) developing clear communication strategies with a focus on being a good listener.
