TIVERTON AND DISTRICT LIONS CLUB

The second annual ‘Shiverton’ event, held Halloween weekend (Oct. 29-30) in Tiverton, was another great success. The Tiverton and District Lions Club and all its volunteers did a wonderful job keeping people on their toes when touring the haunted facilities. Looking forward to next year. The Tiverton Lions Christmas Bazaar will be held Saturday, Nov. 12, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. If you would like to rent a table, please call Lion Rosemary at 519-368-7789

Kincardine Lion Dennis Flavell, who is First-Vice District Governor of District A9, attended the Tiverton Lions meeting Oct. 18. He presented Monarch Chevrons, on behalf of International President Bob Corlew, to eight Lions Club members to recognize them for their years of service. Ten-year chevrons went to Betty Wood, Bob Simpson and Ed Guy. Fifteen-year chevrons went to Guy Martin, Edna McTeer and Jim McTeer. A 20-year chevron was presented to Gord Hayes and a 40-year chevron was presented to Rosemary Grover .

The Tiverton and District Lions Club donated some weights to Tiverton Park Manor for the seniors to use during their Level 1 SMART exercise program which is provided by the Grey Bruce VON. The seniors exercise in the morning, Tuesday to Friday.

The Tiverton Lions are looking for someone between the age of 16-22 to participate in a Lions Club International Youth Exchange in June/July of 2017. The applicants must reside in Tiverton, Bruce Township or Kincardine Township. Visit www.lionsclubs.org, enter youth exchange in the search window and learn about the countries (41) participating. Contact Lion Brent Crawford at 519 368 5361 if you are interested. Deadline for the application is Dec. 15.

REMEMBRANCE DAY SERVICE

The Tiverton and District Ratepayers' Association, Knox Presbyterian Church in Tiverton, and the Tiverton Baptist Church will be holding a Remembrance Day Service, Nov. 11, at 10:45 a.m., at the Tiverton Lions Memorial Park. Lunch will be held after the service at the Baptist Church.

KNOX CHURCH NEWS

Tiverton Knox Presbyterian Church will be holding a "Service of Memories," Sunday, Nov. 13, at 10 a.m.

The Knox Men's Group will be holding a Soup Lunch, Monday, Nov. 21, at Noon. Donation at the door .

CHRISTMAS TREE-LIGHTING

The annual Tiverton Christmas Tree-Lighting will be held at St. Andrews Park, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m. There will be hot chocolate, hot cider, cookies, carols, new light features and a special surprise attraction. Of course, Santa will be there to get the festivities under way.

MANOR MUSINGS

Tiverton Park Manor hosted its annual “Halloween Party” and it was a big success. Close to 50 residents, family and friends came out in their costumes to enjoy the fun. Prizes were awarded to the top three costumes: 1st, Ira Berndt; 2nd, Irene Gowing; and 3rd, Helen MacDonald. A big thank you to all the volunteers and staff who helped make this event such a success. Start working on next year’s costumes!

Tiverton Park Manor will be hosting its annual Open House and Christmas Bazaar, Nov. 26. Everyone is welcome to visit and shop. We are looking for vendors to join us. If interested, please call Karen at 519-368-8800 or E-mail at tpmklb@gmail.com.

Thank you to the Tiverton Baptist Church for the donation of the food-warming station to the manor. It will definitely be a welcome addition. Also, a thank you to the Baptist Church for now hosting Bible Study, Wednesday evenings.
