News from Sacred Heart High School in Walkerton

Each year, the Catholic Education Foundation of Ontario asks all Catholic high schools in the province to nominate and submit the name of an outstanding student to be recipient of the CEFO Catholic Student Award.

Sacred Heart High School is pleased to nominate Cole Wiseman for this year's award. Cole (right) recently received his award from principal Glenn Miller.

Meanwhile, Señora Samantha Easton's Grade 11 Spanish class at Sacred Heart High School in Walkerton, celebrated Nov. 2 with champurrado (spiced hot chocolate) on the Mexican 'Día de Los Muertos'.

For the Day of the Dead, students created an ofrenda (altar) with candles, chocolates, flowers, fruit, photos and wine to celebrate the lives of loved ones who have died.  

The Spanish class, which is available every other year at Sacred Heart, teaches students the language, culture, cooking, music and dance of Spain and Latin America, with a special focus on Mexico.
