Bruce Power donates $100,000 to 2017 IPM to be held in Huron County

The opening day of the 2017 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo (IPM) will be known as ‘Bruce Power Day’ after the company donated $100,000 to be a Distinguished Partner in the Huron County event.

The 100^th IPM will run Sept. 19-23 on 1,000 acres of farmland near Walton, in Huron East. It’s expected 100,000 people will attend to learn more about modern farming, while touring exhibits and about 600 vendors with a focus on education and promotion of rural living, lifestyles and businesses.

There will also be historical demonstrations on farming’s past, plowing competitions featuring 10,000 participants, and a parade of which Bruce Power is the title sponsor.

“Bruce Power takes great pride in our rural heritage, and looks forward to being part of the 100^th International Plowing Match,” said James Scongack, Bruce Power’s vice-president of corporate affairs and environment. “Many of our employees were raised in rural Ontario and have a deep connection to the land on which their parents, grandparents and great-grandparents provided for their families.”
