The Kinetic Knights Robotics team of Kincardine has finished building its robot and is gearing up for regional competitions which begin in March.
Beginning in early January, the team had six weeks to build the robot for the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) challenge, "Recycle Rush."
Tuesday night, the competition robot was put through its paces one more time before it was packed away - "bagged and tagged" - not to resurface until the first regional next month.
The team has a practice robot to work with until the first competition, with the build team continuing to gather at the Lake Huron Learning Centre for the next few weeks to hone their skills.
Meanwhile, the administrative team is working on the awards end of the competition, preparing for another run at the Chairman's Award which the Kinetic Knights have won twice in a row at the Greater Toronto East regional in Oshawa.
The team plans to attend two regionals this year - Oshawa and North Bay - hoping to qualify for the worlds in St. Louis, Missouri, in April.
