Happy Birthday to Irene Boyle of Walkerton. The family members who were able to travel over there gathered at the Louthers' home on Sunday to celebrate.

Congratulations to Anne MacInnes on receiving the Syngenta 4-H Ontario Arbor Award - a well-deserved award for more than 20 years working with 4-H. The other two recipients are Pat Palmer of Elgin County (who is also a Women's Institute member) and Carrie Purcel of the York Region.

Angela Ward and Brea spent the weekend with her parents, Maureen and Roy Collins of Lucknow

Everyone was glad to have the university students home for reading week. We hope they had a safe trip back this weekend and that all goes well in their studies this semester. We are looking forward to their return in the spring.

Jo and Brian Reid and Sharon Martin attended the agricultural societies' annual convention, held at the Royal York in Toronto from Thursday to Saturday. Brian is the president of the Ripley Agricultural Society, and Sharon is the president of the Ladies Division.

The Ripley Winter Carnival was well-attended considering the weather and the cancellation of some of the events.

Congratulations to Allan and Lucy Miller of Holyrood General Store on their anniversary celebration. The MacDonald horse team and sleigh were appreciated.

Shirley MacDonald, Norma Kempers and Mary Anne Kukoly enjoyed lunch together last week.

The Purple Grove Women's Institute ladies are looking forward to the meeting at the home of Mary Anne Kukoly March 4.
