Safety should be number one priority for everyone, says reader

To the Editor:

Safety should be number one for everyone.

Pedestrians need to know where it is safest to walk. We live where there are no sidewalks and traffic is increasing all the time. Pedestrians are at risk if they are on the roadway.

The proper side of the road, when there is no sidewalk, is the left side facing oncoming traffic.

I walk every morning and the majority of walkers and joggers tend to be on the right side with traffic coming up behind them. This is unsafe for the pedestrian and driver.

There are several roads in and around Kincardine that don't have sidewalks. Maybe signs might help to remind people, or schools should pass this safety tip onto students.
