Driver injured in single vehicle accident

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) -  Huron County OPP officers were called to the scene of a single motor vehicle collision on Hawkins Road between Saratoga Line and Prosperity Line in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, Tuesday morning, Dec. 23.

At approximately 8:15 a.m. a passerby came across a Ford Ranger pick-up truck that had slid off the roadway into the south ditch colliding with a tree. 

The single occupant, a 19-year-old male driver from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh was extricated from the vehicle by Lucknow Fire Department and Goderich Fire Department personnel. He was then transported to hospital in London by air ambulance with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation has revealed the driver of the Ford Ranger was eastbound on Hawkins Road when he lost control of his truck on an icy section of the roadway. His vehicle slid off the roadway into the south ditch and collided with a tree.
