Child dies of accidential drowning, on farm south of Lucknow
(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – An 18-month-old girl died of accidental drowning on the family farm, south of Lucknow, Sunday, May 31.

Huron County OPP officers have completed their investigation into the death. The police, along with Huron County EMS, responded to a family farm, on St. Helen’s Line in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, at 8:55 p.m. after receiving a call for assistance.
 

Investigators discovered that a group of siblings was playing outside when the toddler wandered away from the family to an adjacent barn where livestock was being kept. When other family members realized the child had wandered off, they began to search for her and found her a short time later, unresponsive, in a water trough inside the barn.
 

The child was rushed to an area hospital by paramedics; however, attempts to revive her were unsuccessful. Fanny YODER was pronounced deceased at the hospital.  
 

The cause of death has been established as an accidental drowning.
